Take SurveyStudent Survey Data Presentation 2022
In keeping with best practice, and as required by our federal Drug Free Communities (DFC) grant funding, RyeACT routinely collects both quantitative and qualitative data to inform our prevention work in the community, and to evaluate the impact of our prevention strategies. These data sources include formal and informal surveys, key leader reporting (schools, law enforcement, hospital partners), and anecdotal student and parent reporting, among others.
One key component of these efforts is to conduct a biennial student drug and alcohol survey, which is administered to all students in grades 7-12 at Rye Middle School and Rye High School in collaboration with our community partners at the Rye City School District.
This video presentation and corresponding resource materials track survey data collected in Febraury 2021 and feedback from RyeACT Coalition members, including youth leaders, and the RyeACT Steering Committee.
We contract with The Iona College Center for Social Research(Director, Jeanne Matich-Maroney, PhD, LCSW-R) to provide survey data analysis and evaluation services. We also contract with the Montana State University Center for Health & Safety Culture(Senior Research Scientist, Katherine Dively, M.S., MCHES) to consult on ongoing strategy development. Both of these valuable thought partners work with Coalition leadership to provide recommendations to the RyeACT Steering Committee.

No Vape NY Initiative
Youth leaders here in Westchester County care deeply about the health and safety of their peers. They are leading the way to make an impact on the youth vaping epidemic by speaking out!
So proud of our RyeACT Youth Action Team members Kajol and Alex who joined youth leaders from Students Against Nicotine and other peers to participate in this PSA as part of Governor Cuomo’s #NoVapeNY initiative.

Rye Youth “Speak Out”
In keeping with our capacity building goal of increasing youth engagement, the theme of our annual community-wide event was a “Youth Speak Out” held on Tuesday, May 8th at the Rye Arts Center and the adjacent Rye Recreation basketball court and had nearly 250 community members in attendance.
Using lessons learned from the Positive Culture Framework training in January and the Youth Leadership Development conference in April, our teen leaders from the RyeACT Youth Action Team used the event as a platform to reach out to their peers and solicit feedback based on a series of framing questions.
Y2Y Eastern States Conference RyeACT Video
On July 26-29, 2018, 600+ teens, including five RyeACT youth leaders, converged on the campus of Bryant University in Rhode Island for four days of substance abuse prevention and youth leadership training: Youth to Youth International’s Eastern States Conference 2018, “The Other Side of Impossible.”

Westchester Declares “Healthy Teen Brain Day”
Healthy Teen Brain Day was 4/20/2017. RyeACT Coalition was so excited to be a sponsoring member of the Westcester County Coalition’s annual 4/20 event.
It’s so important for parents and community members to know the facts about the impact of marijuana on the developing brain and help us Reclaim 4/20 as Healthy Teen Brain Day!
